THROUGH THE BAOBAB FIELDS IN SENEGAL

JULY 2024 #travel

Senegal dry lands

Fierce eyes, dozens of them, staring right at me. I try to avoid them, but can’t help but gaze at their owners’ delicate features. Bold and bright colours and patterns adorn their slender bodies. Sumptuous head chiefs give older women a timeless, goddess-like look. They stand tall. No one is crouched. One of them has her fingers on her cheek like a Renaissance painting. When I dare turn my head to observe other people from the village ceremony, more patterns, more faces, I try to capture the whole scene with my camera, but each person deserves a portrait.
