Over the years, I've learned the importance of devoting time to practising my passions and sharing them with others. I also believe in the power of sharing stories. That’s why I created this website. In the hope that some of you may find in these pages something you’ve been looking for.

Hey, I’m Maé. Half-French half Lebanese, currently based in the Basque Country.

In 2018, I quit my daily routine to go backpacking solo in South America. During the 185 days I spent there, from Costa Rica to Brazil, I wrote about, drew and photographed the beautiful, scary, fun and thrilling moments of that trip.

In 2022, I decided to put it all together into an interactive digital reading experience, experimenting with web design to bring travel stories to life.

This digital travel journal is an ode to nature's beauty, and a collection of short stories of happy moments, poems, adventures, drawings and travel shots I made about the places I've visited or lived in for a while. You'll also stumble upon a couple of life lessons that have helped me during this trip and after, and that can maybe help you too. I’ve listed sweet and easy rituals to cultivate a positive mindset and make life on the road a bit easier.

The digital travel journal is written in French and in English (~70% French, 30% English).

You can choose between two reading styles: you can read the entire travel journal just by scrolling, or by flipping through pages, like a book.

In The Blog you’ll find destination guides, more travel stories, photoessays, random thoughts and curated music I find interesting.

In the Backpacking Handbook, you’ll find tips to travel long-term on a budget.

Dig a little and I'm sure (I hope) you’ll stumble across something useful for you.

Cheers,
Maé
